CHAPTER 6

When Zonica finally woke up she was met with silence nothing stirring and no sounds anywhere she couldn’t even hear the wind but somehow she knew that she wasn’t at home and she knew that Brian wasn’t anywhere near so she relaxed for a split second till she realized that she still doesn’t know where she is except for that she is in a room. her eyes felt heavy and she failed to open them so she concentrated on other things like her body she felt warm and save but still she had a feeling that she wasn’t alone that someone was there with hershe could feel their eyes on her.

Trying to move her hand and touch her eyes to see why they felt so heavy she whimpered in pain as though it shot through her body like lightning in a thunderstorm, and she let out a little cry of pain, her breathing became harder and faster and she was almost at the point of hyperventilating when a voice echoed through the room.

“So sleeping beauty is finally awake” the voice said with a little amusement and relief in it.

Zonica froze at the sound of his voice and held her breath trying to hear where it was coming from or where the person that spoke was in the room but there was nothing not even a little clue to tell her who’s voice it was.

“Breath Zonica, your turning blue” the voice came again with a little chuckle.

Zonica took a few breaths in and blew them out trying to relax but she couldn’t her body began to shack feeling panic crawling up her body and her breathing became hard again

Where am I?She thought to herself

As if the person around her could feel her panic and see her body shacking as if she is going to have a panic attack anytime soon

“I’ll go and get the doctor” he said in a voice with emotion that she couldn’t explain.

She heard him move somewhere in the room she couldn’t tell where he was until his footsteps echoed while he walked barely noticeable and a door opened and closed somewhere close to her.

Relaxing for a few minutes, she tried to open her eyes but still couldn’t .Frustrated with herself she sighed and decided to momentarily give it a rest and concentrate on what she can move and what she cant so she started by her toes wiggling them she found that she had no pain there and that she could move them without discomfort and then her feet that was a different story her left ankle and leg was extremely painful she doesn’t think that its broken but she cant be sure but before she could go onshe was interrupted when the door swung open and someone called her name

“Zonica …!”

She froze when her name was called and when she realized that it was Doctor Macalister she relaxed and opened her mouth to say something but nothing came out.

“Don’t speak your neck is a bit swollen and bruised … everything will be fine now, your save and I promise I will not let anything happen to you” he said with mixed emotions touching her face with the back of his hand when a tear made its way down the side of her face.

There was silence in the room for a few minutes and then someone cleared there throught.

“Um … yea right” Doctor Macalister said momentarily forgetting that there was someone else with them and cleared his thought and straitening himself and began to tell Zonica what is wrong in a concerned voice.

Laying there and listening to what Macalister had to say she realized that there is something that’s very strange and new to her.

Someone actually cared about her well being and that was strange to her for she forgot how that felt and a few more tears fell from her heavy eyes and she couldn’t say anything for she wouldn’t know how to react to his affection’s towards her she never knew that a man can actually feel that kind of emotion and when he said that he will keep her save she actually believed him ,she knew somehow he was talking the truth and he will not disappoint her like everyone else has in her life she always felt save around him, he’s been her friend since the beginning and she trusts him more that she thought she could trust anyone in her life the only man in her life that she truly trusts and will talk to. He’s her greatest friend. He is like a brother she never had and dearly loves him for always being there for her, although she never told him what Brian did to her and all the stories that she told to prevent any trouble she knew that he knows what had happened and then one day she just stopped telling stories and just went to him and he help her without asking any questions she didn’t have to pay anything but she always insisted to pay if he liked it or not; that’s just how she is she doesn’t want to relay on anyone…

She was startled by that voice again that send shivers down her spine but not in a bad way its just unusual to hear a voice so smooth and gentle so hypnotizing and musical in a strange way.

“Zonica” the voice said questionably

Zonica frowned and he must have noticed because he started to explain

“I am one of Doctor Macalister’s friends”

One of Zonica’s brows lifted and she thought to herself that still doesn’t explain who he is and where is Doctor Macalister she didn’t even realized that he has stopped talking to her; did he leave or is he still here

‘I couldn’t have been thinking that deep in thought to have missed him, could I have? She thought to herself not paying much attention to the person in front or maybe next to her

“Zonica are you listening to what I am saying?” the voice came again breaking her chain of thought

Unconsciously she shakes her head no

“I thought so” the voice said a bit annoyed letting outa loud sigh and she heard footsteps fading into the distance she took a breath and sighed as well not long aftershe heard Doctor Macalister voice came from the side of her bed again.

“Zonica … can you open your eyes?” he asked her

She thought for a while and decided to try to open them again slowly but surly she felt them slightly open with grate difficulty she swallowed and shut them tight when the bright light came into sight

“Take your time, don’t rush it” Doc Macalister said a bit concerned

Zonica tried again a few times until she could finally see Doctor Macalister’s face staring down at her

He let out a sigh of relief and said “you scared me there for a moment”

Not understanding what he meant by that, she looked at him confused and tried to attempted to speak for the second time again

“W…Wh…what do you” but before she could finish she was cut off

“Wait do not strain yourself the swelling will take a while to go down and then we can talk all you what “Doctor Macalister said

“But for now listen to me and do not talk. After I said what I came to say then you must get some rest and think about what I have said , I don’t expect you to answer me straight away but please just think about it andwe can go from there” He said with a pleading and stern tone

Zonica nodded her head in understanding and Doctor Macalister continued to talk:

“I want you to think about being safe and the only way you’ll be safe is if you leave Brian you don’t just have yourself to think of anymore … Zonica you…your pregnant and I am afraid for you every time you go back home he will keep beating you it will never change, it will never and I know you don’t want to talk about it but listen to me when I say your body cant take the beating anymore I know your strong but one of these days you won’t be coming back I was lucky that I went over to your house and I was very sad to have found you tied up to a pole in your backyard .I almost thought I’d lost you, you were unconscious all day yesterday and most of today and I thought you weren’t going to wake up your body is tired and if you want to keep your baby you should get away while you still can. I know that it will be hard but I’ll help you with everything the guy that was here, his name is Christian and the people who sent him I trust with my life and they agreed to take you in and protect you from Brian Trust me when I say Brian isn’t who you think he is he is very dangerous and you’ll soon find out what I mean, pretty soon.

I wouldn’t sent you there if I could fend Brian off myself

If you do this he will come to look for you and when he finds you … what you have gone trough will be nothing to what he will do to you if he finds you. I say all this because I care for you, you and your wellbeing you are something else and very special to me and I will do everything in my power to keep you save .You going to stay with them and they will keep you save and protected you. You’ll be free and you don’t have to live in fear like you do everyday of your living with him. They wont hurt you and I’ll come to see you as often as I can I promise.

Please just think about it and as soon as you have made up your mined I’ll be right here I will always be there for you.

Don’t you forget that” Doctor Macalister said with mixed emotions and a few tears in his eyes.

“But for now you should rest” Macalister added when someone else walked in and Zonica’s eyes grew wide.
