*Flashback* My friends and I were at the Tammi’s beach house for New Year ‘07. I was looking at the bonfire when something caught my eye. It was a boy, not much younger than me. He had jet black hair, electric blue eyes, and the warmest smile. I hadn’t seen a smile like that since I was 9 years old at my dad’s friend’s farm. OMG! It can’t be… No frikken way! I thought. What was that nickname I gave him when we first met? Oh yeah! “Hey, Jacob the Super Digger. Remember me!” I yelled at him. Everyone stared at us. He squinted at me and slowly got a smile on his face. I just stood there, hands on my hips, smiling at him like an idiot. “Is that the famous Dani. The Dani that loves sand?” He laughed. I just ran up to him and hugged him oh so tight. He hugged me back. We were just laughing the whole time. “Oh my gawd. You’re so tall now! Since when are you taller than me?” I joked. “About the same time you moved back. I thought I would never see my best girl back in this hell hole.” I slapped his arm. “I happen to like this hell hole!” I laughed. “Oh Jakey! You promised to walk with me on the beach!” A little preppy blonde shrieked at Jacob. I winced at the annoying little voice. “Ugh, since when do you hang with new kids?! I mean, look at he, so… ugly.” She started circling, criticizing my every aspect. Jacob was now trying to hold back his laughter as he knew what was coming. I blew up, just as expected. “You little helium-filled Malibu Barbie. Don’t you dare call me ugly, fat, or anything!” I yelled at her as Sam came to my side. Sam tried pulling me back, but I shrugged her off as I pushed the dumbass blonde. “Ha, you want a piece of me!” She challenged. “No honey. I want the whole thing.” I said. She slapped me so hard I almost fell. “Ugh! You bitch” I backhanded her so hard she fell backwards. I stepped over her, looked her in the eye, and said, “I hope you learned never to mess with me. Next time you do, I won’t only hurt your pretty little plastic face, but I will also destroy any chances you have of having a nice, preppy, Barbie life. Got that sunshine?” I smirked as I saw fear and hate in her eyes. “Come on Dani. We have to get home before Richard blows a fuse. You know how he gets if we miss curfew.” Sam said as she finished giving the guy she was flirting with her number. “Yeah, okay.” I replied standing up. “Later princess.” I winked at her, laughing at her as she stood up. “Nice Dani.” Jacob high-fived me. “I’ll call you the next time I need someone to kick a prep’s ass.” I laughed as Sam said for the both of us, “Wouldn’t you need our numbers first, genius?” He blushed as Sam and I busted out laughing. Suddenly, someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around to find an extremely cute guy with sparkling gray eyes and brown hair smiling down at me. “Yes?” I asked smiling back. “Well, I’m Tom, and I just wanted to ask if you could kick my cousin’s ass more often?” He smirked. I looked at him confused as hell until I realized the bimbo must be his cousin. “Oh, Malibu Barbie is you cousin? Haha, sorry, but the next time she offends me or my sister, she will need a hospital.” I smirked and turned around. He grabbed my right wrist really hard. I yelped loud enough for Jacob to hear. In a matter of minutes, Jacob and two other guys were at my side. Tom looked at me with eyes filled with hatred. I was so startled, but I knew what I had to do. I smiled grabbing his hand, making it let go of mine. I took a step forward until I was in front of his face. Through my peripheral vision, saw Jake starting to get super confused and mad. I noticed Tom swallow which made me laugh so hard on the inside. I put my arm around his neck and whispered in his ear, “Next time you touch me, I’ll personally make sure you don’t ever touch me again by giving you the most painful beat down you have ever experienced.” On that note, I punched him, and, as he fell down, I kicked him ‘where the sun don’t shine’ just so he understood my little message. “Tootles lover boy.” I smiled skipping around Jake and his friends towards Sam. Jake looked at me with a look that said that I was in trouble with him. I smiled weakly. He glared at me in response. Sam noticed this and took the two other guys to the side. I hated it when we were little when he got all over-protective. I still hate it now. I thought. He sighed. Is that a good or bad sign. Oh crap. “Dani, Dani, Dani. What am I going to do with you?” He asked smiling down at me. “Let me live my own life because I can protect myself?” I said hopeful. He laughed at that idea. “ “So what if I was clumsy back then. I’m not anymore.” I protested. This made him laugh more. “Oh yeah. Of course. I mean, the next time you trip, I’ll be the one to catch you.” He smirked at me knowing he was right, but that didn’t stop me from arguing. “You will not! Watch me walk backwards. I bet you I won’t fall once.” I shot back. I started walking backwards, and everything was fine until I tripped over someone’s bag. I almost fell if Jacob hadn’t been there. He smirked at me knowing he had won. “Haha, yeah. Not clumsy at all. God Dani,” He laughed, but his smile turned into such a serious expression; he looked me in the eye, making me think, Oh god, not again. Please not again. “Wow, you’re eyes are emerald. When we were little, I don’t remember you being so…” “Hot, cute, sexy? I’ve heard them all from every guy, but you have always been so cute.” I smirked at him while pinching his cheek. I still can’t believe he’s a year older than me. He looks younger than me. He looks so much like his dad too. I thought randomly. “Dani! Come on! We gotta go now if we’re going to make curfew.” Sam yelled at me from somewhere near the car. “I gotta go. Bye!” I got up quickly, kissed his cheek, and ran to the car. I hugged the other two guys bye and jumped into the driver’s seat. *End of Flashback*
