The Final Destination

Poem By: aruntp
Poetry

Even though the poem tries to narrate the life of a leaf, it is same in case of human self also. This poem gives a message that even though a man is high up in the society laughing at fellow humans once old age comes, accidents come, disease comes and finally death arrive and releases from his earthly duties for ever. High up on the branch,

Born a leaf fresh and healthy,

Looked around, again and again,

Seen silhouettes of self every where.

Looked again, again and again,

Saw a ripened leaf, too weak and dull,

Laughed at it, again and again,

Until darkness swallow the sun.

Spring came and laughed away,

Summer came and laughed away,

Autumn came and laughed away,

Winter came and laughed away.

Born leafs fresh and healthy,

All looked around again and again,

Seen silhouettes of self’s every where.

Laughed again and again, seeing ripened leafs.

Seasons come and go in circles,

Once a caterpillar sniffed a healthy leaf,

Crawled on it hungrily and thirstily,

Chewed the leaf, again and again.

Looked all leafs around again and again,

Found a leaf, without a leaf,

Looked around with fear and agony,

Seen a ripened leaf floating in the air.
