A Twisted Reality
What is a good person?
The perfect smile,
A pretty face,
The one who can tie the perfect knot,
Or fly into outer space,
Someone who built rocket ships,
Who invented ‘potato chips’,
Someone who models clothing,
Who wrote famous novels?
Who became famous models,
What is a good citizen?
Someone who plants a tree,
Who fills the world with glee?
Who recycles,
Who donates,
Someone who helps an old woman across the street,
Or can dance to every beat,
Someone who can talk a storm,
And uses it to warn,
Warn us of the furiousity,
Awaiting our neglect,
Of our Earth,
Our planet,
OUR HOME!
Someone who can walk miles,
Someone who can wait,
Can you wait a while?
Are you a good citizen?
If you could change the world,
Would you change the poverty?
The loss of people’s property,
Would you bring back the forests?
Would you care before us?
Love one before yourself,
Learn that beauty is not that of a reflection,
But of the things they do,
To change for me and you,
Now answer honestly.
