Dressed To Kill

Poem By: Susan Hartline Fouts
Poetry

I heard the news report this morning and was saddened by the deaths in Iraq, but as I began to research material on the internet, I was just as saddened by the way that women are treated. I discovered 40 or 50 since the beginning of the year were killed because they were not dressed properly so the inspiration came to me about all this. View table of contents...

Dressed to Kill

by Susan H Fouts

She walked the street

Dressed to kill

Where were her thoughts

Before she approached the crowd?

Modest in dress

Her smile was sweet.

Traditional clothing hid her death,

Yet not only hers but others too.

Did she prove her point?

Or accomplish her legacy?

Did she have children and are they crying?

Did she have a husband and is he crying?

Many are weeping

Many are crying

She blew them up

And families they had.

So if you see her walk the street

Beware of death

That is concealed

Run for your life

If you want to live.

Don't let your life be cut short.

Her name is suicide bomber.

Very chilling Susan. Combines innocence with evil very evocative and thought provoking. So is your accompanying picture.

Thank you Anna Therese. I couldn't get the news out of my head and when I read how many women died because of what they wore I had a mixed sense of emotion. I know that what she did was wrong but what drove her to do it? Women are so put down over there.
